Monnie Short, 77, Homemaker, enjoyed family and friends

Monnie "Monica" Short (nee Lewis), 77, of Lorain died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 7, 1926 in Portageville, Missouri and had lived in Lorain for over 60 years.

Mrs. Short was a homemaker, a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the ChorData Club. She enjoyed her family and friends, music, playing cards, and reading. She had also volunteered for the Shields Nursing Home in Lorain and had worked for the St. Peter's Cafeteria and Convent.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Charles Short; daughter, Carolyn Wearsch of Lorain; son, Charles Short, Jr. of Jackson, MI; and 2 grandchildren: Ashley Wearsch and Frank Jacubec.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Andrew and Myrtle (nee Duckworth) Lewis; sisters: Mary Catanzarite, Joy Harn, Marie Lane, and Katherine Clay; and brothers: Otibe and Murshel Lewis.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue in Lorain.

Prayers will be said at the Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter on Wednesday, November 5. The Rev. David Woost , Associate Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
