Burton Bickel, 93, Enjoyed building models and sailing

He was born April 6, 1910 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a resident of Lorain and Amherst until he moved to Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida in 1976 and has been a Vermilion resident since 1996.

Mr. Bickel was a Sheet Metal worker for Local Union #33 in Vermilion and retired in 1972.

He graduated from Lorain High School in the 1928 B class and had attended Ohio University and Case Western Reserve University. He was a member of Local Union#33 in Vermilion, enjoyed building model ships, following the stock market, and sailing, especially sailing through the Bahamas.

Survivors include one son, Burton Bickel of Gibraltar, Michigan, two daughters, Sharon Bardus of Columbus, Ohio and Mary Jane Burger of Vermilion, Ohio, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Donna Mae Bickel (nee Burke) in 1996, and parents, Charles and Myrtle (nee Hale) Bickel.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
