Thelma J. Hennes, 92, Lifelong Lorain Resident

Thelma J. Hennes, age 92, of Lorain, died Saturday November 8, 2003 at Oak Hills Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 12, 1911 in Lorain and has been a lifelong area resident.

Ms. Hennes was employed for the Lorain Telephone Co. where she acted as a cashier, retiring in 1976 after 31 years. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ladies Guild of the Church, L.C.B.A Branch 616 Past President, AARP #2910-3318, Seniors Club at St. Peter's Church and Independent Telephone Pioneers Association. Mr. Hennes also was a member of the R.S.V.P. of Lorain County, Keenagers, and a Volunteer at Goodwill and St. Joseph Hospital.

Survivors include nephews: Jerome H. Hennes of Surfside, SC, Kenneth L. Hennes of Elyria, OH, James R. Hennes of Waterford, OH, Harold S. Hennes of Akron, OH, Leo N. Hennes of Titusville, PA, along with one niece: Marlene Girton of Yorktown, IN.

She was preceded in death by parents: Nicholas and Olive (nee Bennett) Hennes and brothers: Louis N. Hennes and Harold Hennes.

Visitation will be held Tuesday at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home located at 2920 Broadway, Lorain, from 9:30 a.m. until closing prayers at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church at Calvary Cemetery at Section 10 Lot 752 Grave 3.Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Church Bell Tower Fund.
