Irvin M. Schaefer, 86, Enjoyed hunting and fishing
Irvin M. (Bud) Schaefer, age 89, of Avon Lake died Friday, November 14, 2003 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, following a sudden illness.He was born May 1, 1017 in East Cleveland to Max and Tillie (nee Braun) Schaefer.
A life long resident of Avon Lake, he graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1936. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bud was employed at Midland-Ross Corporation for 30 years, from 1947 until 1977, as the supervisor of the data processing center using the first IBM computerized payroll system. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio for over 50 years and the Mid-Century Lodge No. 725, Avon Lake.
Survivors include his four daughters: Joan Hofelzer, Carol Kolibab, and Gail Parsons of Avon Lake and Elaine Tomanek of Englewood, Florida; two sons: Ralph Schaefer of Englewood, Florida and Gary Schaefer of Avon Lake; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise (nee Mitchell) in 1996, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ; 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake on Monday, November 17 at 4:30 p.m. Reverend Kelly Boyte Peters, pastor, will officiate. Busch Crematory will do cremation. Private inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Cleveland. Arrangements handled by the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, Avon Lake.
