Carol Sue Dixon, 59, Loved gardening and being outdoors
Carol Sue Dixon (nee Gandee), 59 years of age, and a resident of Collins, Ohio, passed away November 15, 2003 at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, following a six month illness.She was born April 2, 1944 in Lorain, Ohio and was raised in Columbus. She had made her home in Collins, Ohio for the past thirty years.
As well as a housewife and mother Carol worked for twenty five years as a bus driver for Western Reserve retiring in 2000. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was very active teaching both primary and ladies Sunday school classes. She loved gardening, being outdoors, and landscaping.
Survivors include her husband Thomas K. Dixon, to whom she was married forty-two years, sons Keith A. of Plano, Texas, and Brian T. of Mt. Eden, Kentucky, daughter Sherri M. Grandy of Wakeman, Ohio, seven grandchildren, brothers Dennis of Columbus and Jack of Akron, sisters Ruth Powers and Brenda Gandee both of Columbus, and half sister Marilyn of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Mary Gandee (nee Pruitt).
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. form Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst. The Rev. Harold Taylor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Hartland Ridge Cemetery, in Hartland, Ohio.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Ireland Cancer Center, 41201 Schadden Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035
