Anthony B. Shinsky, 88, Enjoyed car shows and traveling
Anthony B. Shinsky, 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away, Thursday, November 20, 2003 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain.He was born April 6, 1915, in Lorain. He lived in Amherst for more than 60 years.
He was employed at Ridge Tool Co., Elyria, for 43 years, retiring in 1975 as a machinist.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. He enjoyed automobiles, going to car shows, travel and spending the winter in Arizona.
Survivors include his son, Jerome B. Shinsky of Foley, Ala.; stepsons Richard Lewicki of Charlottesville, Va., Charles Lewicki of North Ridgeville and Robert Lewicki of Westerville; daughter, Charlene Schibley of Elyria; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 24 years, Anne (nee Kachel) Shinsky, in 1961; and second wife of 38 years, Emma Lewicki Shinsky, in 2000; son, Kenneth A. Shinsky, in 1994; stepson, David Lewicki, in 1975; brother, Chester Yuszynski; sisters Laura Dorsch and Bernice Hambly; and his parents.
Friends may call Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where final prayers will be held. Funeral services will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, at noon. The Rev. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria.
