John S. Hornak, 51, Enjoyed golf

He was born September 18, 1952 in Lorain where he was raised and graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1970. He had made his home in Vermilion for the past 18 years.

John had most recently worked for Kohl's Department Store in their receiving department. As a young man he had been a De Molay through the Lorain's Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed golf, playing for the West Side Metals golf league at Willow Creek.

Survivors include his son: Chad S. Hornak of Kissimmee, Florida; his daughter Alison Hornak of Lorain; and his former wife Sandy Kelling of Lorain.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John C. and Elizabeth (nee Kovacs) Hornak.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Larry Russ, associate pastor of Church of the Open Door, Elyria, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
