Bill H. Stanley, 72, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Bill H. Stanley, age 72, of LaGrange passed away Sunday in his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Thursday, April 30, 1931 in Bakersville, N.C. to James & Bertie Garland Stanley.

Mr. Stanley is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving 9 years as a M.P. He was a policeman for many years and the former Chief of Police of LaGrange, Ohio. Mr. Stanley was also formerly employed by American Standard, Tappan and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing with his son-in-law and grandsons, flea markets and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Stanley was a loving husband, father and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra K. (Franklin); daughter & son-in-law Teressa K. & Tom Smith; sons: Jerry H. of LaGrange, Ohio, and Bill R. and companion Kristen Walker of LaGrange, Ohio, sister & brother-in-law: Ileene & Harry McKeenan of Olney, Maryland; grandchildren: Josh & Christopher Smith of Wellington, Ohio Jason Stanley of LaGrange, Ohio, and William and Jacob Stanley of Elyria, Ohio; special friends: Wilburn and Linda Ball, and their sons: Brain and Brent of LaGrange; a very special daughter-in-law Sherri Stanley of LaGrange, Ohio and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Fred, Brown, and a younger brother who died of Leukemia at the age of 4.

Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home; 1021 Main St., in Grafton, on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. with funeral services Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Hugh Tubbs, a long time friend, officiating. Special singing will be by Reverend Tubbs wife Betty. Burial will be in Greenwood (Wellington Union) Cemetery, in Wellington, Ohio. Hinkson-Hysell VFW Post 3341 of Grafton will conduct graveside services.
