Bernice A. Kachure, 84, Enjoyed bingo and her grandchildren
Bernice A. Kachure (nee Czarnecki), 84, of Lorain, died Thursday November 27, 2003 at the Kingston of Vermilion after a short illness.
She was born March 1, 1919 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mrs. Kachure worked at the St. Stanislaus School cafeteria and at National Pharmacy as a clerk.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the church Altar & Rosary Society and Holy Name Society, the Polish National Alliance, the Union of Poles and the Greek Catholic Union #77. She enjoyed bingo and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her grandsons: Mike Kachure and Andy Kachure, both of Lorain, granddaughter Lauri Matakovich of Lorain and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Kachure in 1983, son Larry Kachure in 1988. She was also survived by her parents Lawrence & Antonia Czarnecki (nee Wolanin), sisters Josephine Godek and Violet Dzoba and brothers Frank Czarnecki, Louis Czarnecki, Walter Czarnecki, Joseph Czarnecki and a brother in infancy.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor and the Rev. William Schill, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
