Kathleen McCoy, 69, Accomplished walker, enjoyed singing gospel

Kathleen (nee Davis) McCoy, 69, of Lorain died on Friday, November 28, 2003, at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, Ohio, following a short illness.

Mrs. McCoy was born on June 17, 1934, in Cabin Creek, Ohio moving to Lorain in 1954. She was a graduate of Clay County High School in Clay County, West Virginia. She was a homemaker. She was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan, enjoying bicycling, collecting State Quarters and singing gospel with her sisters.

Mrs. McCoy was an accomplished walker, having earned the distinction of walking 2000 miles in the year 2000. She attained her personal goal recently of having walked at least 1 mile in every county in West Virginia. Her photograph was taken at each county marker except one as proof of her accomplishment.

She is survived by her husband John L. McCoy, daughters, Sherry A. King of Lorain, Susan M. Schofield of Elyria, Shelley L. Shaver of Wakeman, son, John D. McCoy of Sylvania, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, sisters Margaret Adams of Ivy Dale, West Virginia, Ruth Chapman of Seville, Ohio, Lucy McKinney of Yulee, Florida, Mary Nottingham of Creston, brothers Dennis Davis of Yulee, Florida, Jimmy Davis of Walback, West Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McCoy is preceded in death by her parents Silas and Lenna (nee Carte) Davis, brothers Orville Davis, Ray Davis, Russell Davis, and sisters Jean Hinte, and Ruby Lumpkin.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Monday, December 1, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on December 2, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, Ohio. Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, Ohio. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
