Johnnie Triplett, 71, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Johnnie Triplett Johnnie Triplett, 71, of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 in Community Health Partners West after a 4-month illness.

He was born September 15, 1932 in Lincoln County, West Virginia. He has been a Vermilion resident since 1978, moving from Lorain.

Johnnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Triplett worked as a repairman for the Ford Automotive Plant in Lorain for 38 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church. He was a member of the Ely Masonic Lodge #424, where he was a past master, the Consistory, a past High Priest of the PB Morgan, and the Knights Templar Commandery. He enjoyed family, gardening, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia (nee Maynard); 1 son: Paul Triplett of Vermilion; 2 daughters: Melva Simulcik of Lorain, and Melinda Bailey of Crestwood, KY; 6 grandchildren; and a sister: Ramona Irene Triplett of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernie and Nora (nee Vance) Triplett; a brother: Luke Triplett; and a sister: Francis Triplett.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Riddle Funeral Home; 5345 South Street, Vermilion. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Masonic Ely Lodge and a Veteran’s service will follow by the Vermilion Veterans Council.

Services will be held at the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Monday, December 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
