Iris Vasquez, 52, Member of Sacred Heart Chapel
Iris Vasquez (nee Fernandez), age 52, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at her residence following a lengthy illness.Born October 6, 1951 in Bronx, NY, she came to Lorain 7 years ago.
She worked for May Co., Sheffield Township, in the customer service dept. for the past 7 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.
Surviving her is her son, Michael A. Rodriguez, of Allentown, PA; her father: Bienvenido “Neco” Fernandez, of Lorain; brothers: Juan Manquel of Far Rockaway, NY, Armando Acevedo, of Waterbury, CT, Carlos Fernandez of Lorain, and Ben Fernandez, of San Francisco, CA; a sister: Annette Harrington, of Lorain; friends: Lourdes Aviles, of Lorain, and Sonia Alvarez, of Long Island, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Gloria (nee Manquel) Fernandez, in 2002, her birth father, Anibal Vasquez, in 1983.
The family will receive friends in Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home; 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel; 4201 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Reverend William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
