Eugene G. Spenzer, 86, World War II Navy Veteran
Eugene G. Spenzer, 86 years of age, of North Ridgeville, formerly of Parma, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Aristocrat Care Center, Berea, following complications of congestive heart failure.Mr. Spenzer was born March 8, 1917 in Cleveland.
Eugene worked as an assembler for the White Motor Corporation, Cleveland for 35 years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Avon Methodist Church, VFW Post 7035, Avon; he was active in the Fraternal Order of the Woodsmen of the World, and a member of UAW local #32. He was a Boy Scout Leader and continued to support scouting.
Mr. Spenzer’s wife of 22 years, Geraldine Forbes-Spenzer (nee Sprecher) passed away suddenly, later that same day, while visiting family in California. Mr. Spenzer is survived by a son: Jeffrey E. Spenzer (Sherry) of Avon Lake; and grandchildren: Jacqueline and Austin.
He was preceded in death by a son: David E. Spenzer; brother: Leonard Spenzer; and his first wife, Mildred, in 1980.
Services for Mr. Spenzer will be Monday, December 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake. The Reverend John Butchko of the Avon United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 21. Mr. Spenzer will be buried in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
A combined memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Spenzer will be held in January at the Avon United Methodist Church. The day and time are to be announced.
