Robert J. Meyer, 82, Retired from B. F. Goodrich and Polyone

Robert J. Meyer, 82, of Lorain died on Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.

Mr. Meyer was born on January 16, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Lorain in 1952. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from University of Wisconsin in 1943. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in Avon Lake. After retiring he continued to work as a consultant from B.F. Goodrich, then Polyone and finally as the European-Asian Technical Liaison for the American Society of Testing Material (ASTM). He retired from Polyone earlier this year but continued with ASTM until his death. During WW II he worked at US Rubber in both Charleston, West Virginia and South Bend, Indiana.

He was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, ASTM, Society of Plastic Engineers and the American Society of Cosmetic Chemist. He enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife and reading.

Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife Rebecca A (nee Rosser) Meyer, to whom he was married on June 9, 1945, his two sons, Mark J. Meyer of Boardman, Norman E. Meyer of Elyria, 4 grandchildren, sister Muriel "Suzy" Wootton of Austin TX and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Miriam (nee Morris) Meyer.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, on Friday, December 26, 2003 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on December 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, with Rev. Charles Henkle, associate pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church officiating. Robert J. Meyer will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township.
