Carl Frederick Plott, 87, Avid horseman and loved mowing grass

Carl Frederick Plott, 87 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, December 22, 2003 at his home following a four-month illness.

He was born March 31, 1916 in Warren, Ohio where he was raised and lived until age 16 when he began working for a logging company. He was a resident of Amherst from 1942 until moving to Lorain in 1962. Lorain has been his home since 1962.

He was employed for 44 years by the American Ship Building in Lorain until it’s closing in 1986 as a machinist and yard boss. He was the founder of the horse club, the Saddle Pals and also served as an advisor for the Lorain County 4-H Club. He was an avid horseman and loved mowing grass.

Survivors include his sons Clinton C. Plott of Wellington and Clifton J. Plott of Woodburn, Indiana; his daughter Jane Cobos of Bryan, Texas; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years Florence Rose Plott (nee Deuschle) on April 12, 1990; by his parents Clyde and Flossie Plott (nee Drennan); by his brother Clayton Plott and by his sister Isamae Clark.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph; 5255 North Abbe Rd., Elyria, 44035.
