Mary R. Reed, 92, Avid gardener and sports fan

She was born August 15, 1911 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and had resided in Elyria/Lorain area since 1982 moving from Canonsburg.

Mrs. Reed worked at the Canonsburg Pottery Company in Canonburg, a member of the International Brotherhood Pottery & Allied Workers Union and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain. She was an avid gardener and sports fan.

She is survived by her son George J. Reed of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, granddaughter Bethel Reed of New Jersey, great granddaughter Hannah Reed-Haas of New Jersey, sister Margaret McNulty of Femandiana Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Reed in 1977, grandson Brad Reed in 1979, brother George Dezack in 1988 and sister Anne O’Connell in 1989.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shino-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 7:45 p.m. followed by a funeral amass at 8:15 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain. The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Queens of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
