Caroline Anna Kocsan, 89, Enjoyed vacationing on Pelee Island
Caroline Anna Kocsan, (nee Baley), 89, of Lorain, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain.She was born on September 18, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1932 she graduated from John Adams High School, Cleveland, and began working for General Electric in accounting and bookkeeping until 1937, when she moved to Lorain.
In 1948, Caroline, and her late husband Steve, started Steve’s Market on Vine Ave. in South Lorain. In 1969, Steve’s Market relocated next to Willow Hardware on Oberlin Ave., in Lorain due to Urban Renewal. In 1972, she and her husband retired having been known for their Hungarian meats and sausages.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, The Virgin Mary Society and The St. Ladislaus Society both of the church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and vacationing on Pelee Island.
Caroline is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Kocsan, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Steve, in 2002, her daughter, Caroline Honey Kocsan, in 1999, parents Joseph Baley in 1960, and Anna (nee Dodunski) Baley, in 1965, her brothers, Edward Baley, Clarence Baley, in 1999, and William Baley, and a sister, Ruth Emily Tomolo.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church will conduct a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, E. 29th St. and Wood Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
