Francis (Frank) M. Kovach, Jr., 58, Avid sportsman and outdoorsman

Photo of Francis (Frank) M. Kovach, Jr. Francis (Frank) M. Kovach, Jr., age 58, of Lorain, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following a short illness.

He was born on June 30, 1945 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident.

Frank worked at Builder’s Square in Lorain for 15 years and previously was employed at the Burger King on Grove Ave. in Lorain at the former Cook Ontario Store, Lorain.

Growing up, he was active in Boy Scouts, obtaining the rank of Life Scout. Frank was affiliated with Troops #324, #330 and #380. He was a graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School Class of 1963.

He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, especially enjoying camping, basketball and bowling.

Survivors include his sons, Francis M. Kovach, III of Dryden, MI, Donald G. Kovach of Dryden, MI and Daniel C. Kovach of Lorain; 2 grandchildren, brothers, Salvatore Kovach of Lorain; sister, Paula Ann Leyva of Liburn, GA, 1 niece and 3 nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Francis M. and Pia Ann (nee Glorioso) Kovach.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio.

Closing prayers will be said on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Reverend David Woost, Associate Pastor, will be the Celebrant.
