Marley B. Thornton, 8, Gifted song writer and singer
Marley Bly Thornton, 8 years of age, and a resident of Jamaica, formerly of Oberlin, died January 2, 2004.She was born June 21, 1995 in Elyria. She has lived in Jamaica for the past four years.
She attended Marjam of Ochorios private school, Jamaica. A gifted song writer and singer, she loved her family and friends.
Survivors include her brother, Hugh James Thornton of Jamaica and Idaho, Sarah Virginia Brown of Jamaica and Ohio, Chelsea Michele-Brown and Kathryn Elle Thornton, both of Jamaica and Idaho, father Tad White of Elyria, and her grandmother Virginia Nord of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her mother Michele Thornton of Jamaica on January 2, 2004 and her grandfather Eric Baker Nord in April of 1980.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
