Lois May Grasse, 79, Enjoyed traveling, ceramics, and gardening

Lois May Grasse (nee Horn), age 79, and a resident of LaGrange, passed away January 3, 2004 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born February 22, 1924 in Lorain. She was raised in Amherst Township, Lorain area, graduating from Amherst High School in 1940. She made her home in Amherst and Vermilion prior to moving to LaGrange thirteen years ago.

Lois worked primarily as a homemaker but was also employed over the years for the Lorain County Corners Office, National Tube Company, and the Lorain City Credit Union. She was an honored member of the Amherst Stone City Chapter of the Eastern Stars for fifty-one years. She enjoyed traveling, playing the organ, ceramics, and gardening. She loved her family pet, an African Love Bird named Duke and raising and showing her German Shepherds.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John Thomas Grasse; son: Thomas Grasse of LaGrange; daughter Barbara Leiby of Wellington; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; brother: Norbert Horn; and parents: William and Rose Horn.

Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society; 401 Tomahawk Dr., Maumee, Ohio 45357.
