Norma Jean Pastron, 83, Emplyed by J.C. Penney's for 22 years

Photo of Norma Jean Pastron Norma Jean Pastron (nee Saladin), 83, of Amherst, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a short illness.

She was born March 6, 1920 in Lorain, Ohio. She has been an Amherst resident most of her life, but had also lived in Chattanooga, TN, and Milwaukee, WI, and Lorain.

She retired from the furniture department at J.C. Penney’s in 1986 where she had worked for 22 years. She also worked for Woolworths in Lorain and was a hostess at McGarvies in Vermilion and Heilman’s in Lorain.

She graduated from Clearview High School in 1938.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain, where she was a member of the Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Grandmother’s Card Club, the Lorain Chapter of the Eastern Stars, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Chattanooga, TN and the Amherst Chapter of the AARP. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, ceramics, and playing cards.

She is survived by three daughters, Nadine Gonzalez of Lorain, Diana Garno of Essex, Ontario, Canada, and Donna Wade of Essex, Ontario, Canada, son Dennis Pastron of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Pastron on January 23, 1987, brothers James and Glenn Saladin, and her parents Francis and Maude (nee Kraus) Saladin.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 204 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Lorain Chapter of the Easter Star will conduct services at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, January 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Daren, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain, officiating. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
