Doris C. Wright, 78, Avid lover of horses
Doris C. Wright (nee Yunker), 78 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.She was born March 20, 1925 in Amherst Township and has lived in this area her entire life. She graduated from Clearview High School in 1943. She has lived in Elyria since 1988.
Doris worked for Sears for 20 years in the sign shop. She was an avid lover of horses and at one time owned and operated Wheel Pine Farm in Amherst. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved and excelled at artistic hobbies such as tole painting, wood carving, cross-stitch and playing the organ. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria.
Survivors include her sons, Dale Wright and Jim Wright both of Amherst Township, her daughters, Cheryl Wulff and Pam Mohar both of Amherst, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and her sisters Ethel Dumas of Sheffield Township and Geraldine Teaman of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Frank William in 1990; her brothers, Robert, Jerome, and Sylvester Yunker, her sisters, Loretta DeMarco and her twin sister, Deloris Elliott; her parents, John and Agatha (nee Stenger) Yunker.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where final prayers will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria. Rev. Ft. Gaetano Menegatto, associate pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
