Lily Little, 91, Knitted for soldiers during WWII

Lily (nee Anthony) Little, 91, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida formerly of Sheffield Lake died on Friday, January 9, 2004 at Ocean View Nursing Home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Little was born on December 28, 1912 in Jarrow On Tyne, England. She has lived in the Lorain area since 1924. She moved to Florida 8 years ago. She retired in 1978 after 15 years service as a wire harness assembler for the former Lorain Products.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Social Lites in Lorain. She knitted socks, sweaters and scarves for the soldiers during WW II. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed embroidering.

Mrs. Little is survived by her daughter, Dorothy E. Wagner of New Smyrna Beach, FL, her son, John Little of Avon Lake, and, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Austin Little in 1960 , her parents George and Hannah (nee Thomson) Anthony, her brother George Anthony, and sisters Daisy Pressick, her twin, Doris Tomasak, Rebecca Duff and Ada Westmoreland.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio, on Monday, January 12, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, Ohio, with Rev. Terry Brooks, pastor of Tower Baptist Church, officiating.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Volusia and Flagher Counties, 3800 Wood Briar Trail, Port Orange, Florida, 32129.

Lily Little will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, Ohio.
