Luisa Cardona, 89, Enjoyed embroidery, shopping, and travel
Luisa Cardona, age 89, of Lorain, died on Friday, January 9, 2004 at Lorain Community Health Partners Hospital following a lengthy illness.She was born on October 11, 1914 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and moved to Bronx, New York in 1947. While living in New York, she worked at Bellach and Sons Factory, Bronx, for 12 years, retiring in 1975. She then came to Lorain in 1978.
She attended House of Praise International Church, Lorain and Church on the North Coast and took pleasure in reading religious literature. She enjoyed doing embroidery and canvas knitting as well as shopping and traveling.
She is survived by two sons, German Perez of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and Armando Perez of Lorain, two daughters Maria Figueroa and Jovita Velez, both of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren, five sisters: Ester Cardona, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Rosa Irizarri and Estrella Velez, both of Kissimmee, FL, Rosario Velez of Lorain and Dora Colon of Kissimmee, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Comacho in 1990, her parents Jose Cardona and Maria Velez, her brother Luis Cardona in 1993 and her sister Mercedes Negron in 1998.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Gilbert Silva, pastor of House of Praise International Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
