Robert L. Raver, 85, Enjoyed fishing, dancing, and music

Robert L. Raver, 85, of Vermilion, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

He was born January 21, 1918 in North Olmsted, Ohio and had moved to Vermilion in 1928.

He worked as a stationary engineer for US Steel. He owned and operated Ravers Grocery in Florence Township for 11 years. He had worked for the State of Ohio as a truck driver. He was a member of Florence Congregational Church, Elyria King Solomon Masonic Lodge #0056. He held a Stationary Engineering license for 50 years and enjoyed dancing, fishing, and music.

Survivors include his wife Maxine Raver, daughter Marsha Berwick of Naples, Florida, step daughter Patricia I. Van Wye of Burleson, Texas, step son Charles “Bill” Palmer of Collins, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a half sister Dale Trevis of North Olmsted.

Preceding him in death were his parents Lloyd Charles and Adella (nee Demaline) Raver, and by his first wife, Kathleen in 1958, sisters Gertrude Raver and Leona Bodnar and half brother Frank Raynor.

Friends may call Monday January 12, 2004 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Robert Daughtery, of the Florence Congregational Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Florence Township Cemetery.
