Dorothy J. Gabrie, 78, Enjoyed knitting and the Cleveland Indians
Dorothy J. (nee Gust) Gabrie, age 78, of Vermilion, formerly of Lorain, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Home following an extended illness.Born on December 17, 1924 in Lorain, Mrs. Gabrie had lived in the Vermilion and Lorain areas most of her life. She was a 1942 graduate of the St. Mary’s High School in Lorain and was a 1944 graduate of the Oberlin Business College. She had been employed at the Lorain National Bank in the Loan Department from 1970 until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. She enjoyed knitting and reading was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her daughter Terese Homegardner of Vermilion, and her son Thomas Gabrie of Mount Washington, Kentucky, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond J. Gabrie in 1970, her parents Ernest Gust in 1951 and Theresa (nee Chapman “Czapzinksa”) Gust in 1954.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funereal Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
