Marjory L. Weisman, 89, Enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and family
Marjory Lucille Weisman (nee Krisher), 89, of Elyria, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Elyria Methodist Village after an extended illness.Born in Kemp, Ohio, Mrs. Weisman relocated to Crown Point, Indiana with her parents and sisters, where her father worked on the railroad during WWI. Her father’s work later took them to Crestline, OH and Kenton, OH before moving to Lorain where the family survived the 1924 Tornado.
An Elyria High School graduate, 1932, Mrs. Weisman became a licensed beautician at the Berkline Beauty School in Elyria. A devoted wife and homemaker, Mrs. Weisman was also a creative and skilled needle and craftswoman who organized a needlecraft club and was a past member of the National Needlecraft Guild. She served as past president of Allen School PTA, served as Den Mother to her sons’ Cub Scout packs, had been a voting poll worker for many years, enjoyed her years with the Jolly 60’s, and had attended the Elyria Baptist Church. Her many other interests included keeping up with current events, financial news and maintaining family history and photos. With her husband, she had traveled to every mainland state of the Union, Alaska, Hawaii, and toured Spain and Canada.
Mrs. Weisman is survived by her husband of 68 years, Victor E. Weisman, native of Elyria; sons Roland Weisman of Augusta, GA, Matthew Weisman of Elyria and Brian Weisman of Lorain; step-daughter Gwen Tomic; grandchildren Tammy Weisman, Jason Weisman, Cory Weisman and Christopher Weisman; and step-grandchildren Robin Landers and David Ghagi. Mrs. Weisman is missed by her many friends and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas V. and Bessie (nee Myers) Krisher; sisters, Wanda Petty and Maxine Krisher, and step-grandson, Steven Errecarte.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Rd, Elyria. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Brookdale Cemetery, 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd., Elyria. The Rev. Jim Gordon, pastor of Elyria Baptist Church will officiate.
