Esther D. Lambur, 86, Enjoyed baking, gardening, and travel
Esther D. Lambur (nee Spaetzel), 86, of Amherst, formerly of Avon Lake and Sheffield Lake communities, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the Amherst Manor Retirement Community, Amherst following a brief illness.Lena was born April 5, 1917 in Avon Lake and graduated from Avon Lake High School. She moved to Sheffield Lake in 1950 and returned to Avon Lake several years ago before moving to Amherst four years ago. She began her career as a secretary for the Department of Defense, Cleveland and then worked for Rieger & Co. Stockbrokers in Lorain and Rieger-Hart Realty as a bookkeeper and stenographer for 30 years before retiring in 1990. She was a former member of St. Teresa Church, Sheffield Village and its Altar and Rosary Society, St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sheffield Lake and its Ladies Guild, St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake, and most recently attended St. Joseph Church, Amherst. Mrs. Lambur was a charter member of the Sheffield Lake Women’s Club, Erie Shores Career Women’s League, Sheffield Lake Seniors and the Lively Avon Lakers. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and traveling.
Mrs. Lambur is survived by two sons, William Robert Lambur (Barbara) of Bedford, Texas and Richard D. Lambur (Cathie) of Amherst, a daughter Judith Marie Johnson (Harry) of Fresno, California and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1988, brother Edwin Spaetzel, two sisters, Ruth Edwards and Rosemary Taddeo, and her parents John and Flora (nee Stuckey) Spaetzel.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2004. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday by the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Teresa Church. Prayer services will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery, Sheffield Village. Memorials may be forwarded to a charity of choice.
