Alyce M. Jaeger, 94, Enjoyed volunteering and teaching
Alyce M. Jaeger, 94 of Vermilion, died Monday, January 26, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a brief illness.She was born March 18, 1909 in Amherst, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident since 1968.
She was a graduate of Amherst High School and Oberlin College. She worked as a Teacher for Castalia, Amherst, and Elyria Public Schools. She retired from Elyria Schools in 1968.
Mrs. Jaeger was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion, Erie County Retired Teachers; Ohio retired Teacher Education Association, and the Vermilion Garden Club. She was a former member of the Vermilion College Club; she enjoyed volunteering at Lorain Community Hospital, and participated on the Ritter Public Library Auxiliary.
Survivors include son, Philip D. Jaeger, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX and 2 grandsons, Philip D. Jaeger, III of Galveston, TX, and Patrick Jaeger of Vermilion.
Preceding her in death were her husband Philip Jaeger in 1987, parents, George and Anna (nee Sabiers) Neiding, a brother, Walter Neiding; and 2 sisters, Alma and Josephine Neiding.
Friends may call Thursday January 29, 2004 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral home 5345 South St. Vermilion, Ohio.
Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
