Sophie Marie Lavish, 89, Enjoyed gardening and cooking
Sophie Marie Lavish, (nee Janezic), age 89, of Lorain, died Monday January 26, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.Born November 7, 1914 in Lorain, she had lived in Lorain her entire life and for the past 5 months had resided in the Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Sophie was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, reading the newspaper, and cooking. She also was an active bowler at the former Broadway Lanes, Lorain.
She was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lorain.
Surviving is her sons, Eugene J. Lavish, of Avon Lake, Dennis S. Lavish, of Amherst, and Clifford P. Lavish, of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 45 years, Joseph Stephen Lavish, in 1979, her parents, Frank Janezic, in 1942, and Terezia (nee Cicada) lavish, in 1939, 2 brothers, Frank Fritz Janezic, and Joseph Janezic.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 4:00 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
