Eugene "Leon" Davis, 76, 1991 Ford retiree, loved his grandchildren

Photo of Eugene Eugene “Leon” Davis, 76, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born June 13, 1927 in Guntown, Mississippi and has been a Vermilion resident since 1960 moving from Memphis, Tennessee.

He worked for Ford Motor, Lorain for 31 years, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the US Army serving between 1945 and 1948.

He was a former member of the VFW Post #7576, life member of Amvets Post #22, and UAW #421. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing pool, fishing, and attending Turkey Shoots at the VFW.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Martha Faye (nee Fisher) Davis, step mother Augusta Davis of Vermilion, daughter Michelle Rohn of Omaha, Nebraska, two step sons, Danny P. Page of Wilmington, and Ralph Martz of Vermilion, three step daughters, Linda Freuh of Columbus, Kathy Mason of Memphis, Tennessee, and Tammy Gabel of Vermilion, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two brothers, Billy D. Davis of Memphis and Earl L. Davis, Jr. of Miami, Florida, tow sisters, Jeri McDaniel of Vermilion, Ohio and Ann Smith of Mississippi, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Earl Lee and Bessie (nee Bishop) Davis, first wife Dolly R. Davis (nee Ivy), son Larry Eugene Davis in 2002, and three brothers: Robert E. Davis, Doodle Drafin and Charles Drafin.

Friends may call Friday January 30, 2004 from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Rev. Guy Morton, pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church, will officiate. The Vermilion Veteran Council will be conducting Military Honors at 7:00 p.m.
