Richard P. Michaels, 77, Football enthusiast, especially OSU
Richard P. Michaels, 77, of Lorain, died Saturday, January 31, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a short illness.He was born September 22, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio. He lived in Bedford Heights, Ohio for more than thirty years before returning to Lorain nine years ago.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1949. He worked as a fabrication supervisor for Thew Shovel and Massey Ferguson. He was the Social Secretary for the United Polish Club, Lorain and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lorain. He was a football enthusiast, especially the Ohio State University Team.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Hebb of Olympia, Washington and Judy Michaels of North Royalton, two granddaughters, many loving nieces and nephews, and brother Leonard Michalski of Lorain, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were his parents Joseph and Hattie (nee Sklarek) Michalski, three brothers, Joseph, Jr., Robert and Edward Michalski.
Friends may call Monday, February 2, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
Prayers will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Father David Woost, Associate Pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
