Joseph L. Logar, 90, Enjoyed gardening and fishing

Joseph L. Logar, 90, of Lorain, died Monday February 2, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 9, 1913 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Mr. Logar worked at Thew Shovel in Lorain as a blacksmith, material handler and in the machine shop for 41 years retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Holy Name Society of which he was a past Holy Name Man-of-the-Year. He also worked as a custodian at church cutting grass, shoveling snow and doing general maintenance.

He was a member of the KSKJ Lodge #85 and the AFL-CIO. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and tinkering with small engines.

He is survived by his sons: Leonard Logar of Amherst, William Logar of Avon and Lawrence Logar of Elyria; daughters; Virginia Dorenkott of Fairview Park and Mary Lou England of Neilsville, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and sister Frances Various of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Logar (nee Reising) on June 30, 1998, daughter JoAnn Sheller on September 9, 2000, parents Jacob & Frances Logar (nee Urbas), brothers James Logar, Louis Logar, Anthony Logar and Charles Logar and sisters Ann Merva and Josephine Muha.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a parish rosary will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 1705 E. 31st St., Lorain. The Rev. Paul Krajnik, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
