Frank R. "Bud" Blair, 81, U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII

Frank R. “Bud” Blair, 81, of Elyria, died Thursday February 5, 2004 at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Blair was born November 15, 1922 in Russellville, Ohio and was a resident of Elyria since 1957, coming from Olmsted Falls.

He was employed on the crankshaft line at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for 32 years, retiring in 1985.

Mr. Blair served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from October 9, 1940 to September 15, 1941. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.

Mr. Blair was a life member of the VFW Post 1079 in Elyria and a member of the Elyria Moose Club.

He enjoyed hunting, flower gardening, camping, and watching sports, especially NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty (nee Adams); daughters, Linda K. Swafford of Pikeville, TN, Vicki G. Carrington of Ripley, Ohio and Gayle L. Redlich of Columbia Station; son, Russell R. “Buck” of Johnstown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Mae Davis of Ecksmanville, Ohio, Frances R. Penny of Blanchester, Ohio and Mary G. Jones of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Ethelena (nee Pickerill), Blair and brother, George W. Blair.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Rd. and St. Rd. 57 in Elyria.

Services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Rev. David Hockney, pastor of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Elyria, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon where the VFW Post 1079 of Elyria will conduct full military honors.
