Kenneth C. Stauder, 55, U.S. Marine Veteran

He was a 1967 graduate of Admiral King High School. Shortly after graduation, Mr. Stauder entered the United States Marine Corps. As a Corporal, he was assigned to duty in Southeast Asia where he served as a door gunner with several helicopter rescue squadrons. He was awarded the Viet Nam National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with one Bronze Device, the Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, the Combat Air Crew Insignia Award with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with One Bronze Palm. He was a member of VFW Post #1662 of Amherst as well as American Legion Post #30 of Lorain.
For the last 3 years, he was employed as a laborer with the City of Lorain’s Water Dept. He had previously been employed as a certified welder with the P.C. Campana Corp., as will as the American Shipbuilding Co.
An avid fan of the History Channel, Mr. Stauder enjoyed watching war movies. HE was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed maintaining and riding his Harley Davidson Dyna Superglide. Additional interests were collecting firearms, and eagle statuary.
Survivors include his sons: Sean Duffield of Avon Lake and Kurt Stauder of Lorain; a sister: Christine Nosack of Berlin Heights; brother: Richard of Elyria; 3 nieces; 4 great-nieces; and 1 great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph in 1989 and his mother: Virginia (nee House) in 1993.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until time of closing prayers at 10:30 a.m. in the Gluvna_Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway, Lorain. A funeral mass will follow in St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church; 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria Twp. The Rev. James Ols, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where officers and members of American Legion Post #30 will conduct full military honors.
