Elizabeth M. Kovacs, 87, Enjoyed quilting, cooking, and baking

Elizabeth M. Kovacs, (nee Helli), age 87, of Lorain, died on Tuesday February 10, 2004 in the emergency room at EMH Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness.

Born on March 26, 1916 in Elyria. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and baking.

She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church. She was also the past president of PTU at St. Ladislaus School, past president of St. Ann’s Auxiliary #287 of the Knights of St. John’s, member of the Simeon Club of St. Ladislaus and a member of the Hungarian Young People Club, Lorain.

She is survived by her son: John K. Kovacs of Elyria, daughters: Betty Jean Dojchak, of Nashville, TN and Patricia Gula, of Elyria, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, sisters: March Verch, of Medina.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: John L. in 1988, parents: Steve and Marie (nee Majoras) Helli, and brothers: Steve and Michael and sister: Rose Dohanyos.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th Street, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
