Rudolph Acuna Martinez, 86, World War II Army Veteran
Rudolph Acuna Martinez, age 86, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at his residence following a short illness.Born on April 17, 1917 in Evansville, Texas, Mr. Martinez had lived in Lorain for many years.
During World War II, he had served in the United States Army.
Rudolph was employed as a laborer at US Steel for a number of years and then he worked in the maintenance dept. at Community Health Partners Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, and had also worked for the Columbia Gas Co. in Lorain for a number of years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and had enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife: Julia (flee Nunez) Martinez, of Lorain, 2 sons: Rudy N. Martinez, of Lorain and Leonard Martinez, 4 daughters: Petra Mendiola Maria Martinez, Irene Martinez, and Nolberta lnchaurrequi, all of Lorain. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister, Madgelena Galvan of Lorain. Also surviving are the caregiver's with whom he had made his home, Ismael, Misty, April and Dada.
He was preceded in death by his parents Diego and Tibereia (nee-Nunez) Martinez: his daughter Hope Cruz; 3 brothers, Sin Martinez, Diego Martinez and Valentine Martinez; and 1 sister, Frances Morales.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, with Rev. Tony DeGracia, Deacon of Sacred Heart Chapel, officiating.
