Maria Andrijowycz, 84, Enjoyed baking, cooking, and embroidery

Maria Andrijowycz, a.k.a. Maria Andrij, (nee Noskiw), age 84, of Lorain, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at Hearthstone of Lorain, following a brief illness.

Born March 22, 1919 in Mykytynci, Ukraine, she lived in Germany before settling in Lorain in 1951.

She had worked for the Lorain Board of Education, retiring in the late 1960's.

Maria was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain, and former secretary of the parish Apostleship of Prayer. She was also active at church making pyrohy. She was a member and former secretary of the Ukrainian National Women's League, and member of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, Ukrainian embroidering, and reading.

Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Nick Andrijowycz, sons, George Andrijowych, of Lorain, John Andri, of Strongsville, and Don Andrijowych, of Nevada, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juri Noskiw and Teodosia (nee Hawrylyshyn) Noskiw, and a brother, Michael Noskiw, in 1973.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a panahida service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, E. 31st St. and Charleston Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Pallwoda, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
