Robert J. Stanfield, 73, US Air Force Veteran

Robert J. Stanfield, 73, of Lorain, died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness

Born June 6, 1930 in Lorain, he lived in Dearborn, MI for 23 years before returning to Lorain 11 years ago.

He served in the US Air Force in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Robert served in various capacities of employment in Lorain and Dearborn, Ml, throughout his life.

He was a member of Tower Baptist Church, Lorain, the Veterans of Foreign War Post #1079 of Elyria, and the Olds Club of America. While living in Dearborn, Ml, he served as a volunteer fireman. A 22 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Robert attended local area meetings including meetings held in Amherst and Vermilion. Prior to this, he attended meetings in Dearborn.

Surviving is his sister, Gloria A. Pritchett, of Lorain, nephews, Gerald Pritchett, and Douglas Pritchett, both of Lorain, a great nephew and 2 great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, in 1975, and his mother, Irene (nee King) Stanfield, in 1993.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Jerry Brooks, pastor of Tower Baptist Church, will officiate. Private burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
