Anna K. Zavada, 89, Enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and sewing

Anna K. Zavada (nee Prosenko), age 89, of Lorain, died Monday, Feb.16, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, in Lorain, following a short illness.

Born Jan. 5, 1915 in Lorain and has lived here her entire life.

She was employed at Bendix-Westinghouse, Elyria, in the machine shop as a machinist, retiring in 1975 after 32 years there. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain, and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and sewing.

Surviving are her sons: Frank Short, of Lorain, and Jerry Zavada, of Dublin, CA; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sisters, Mildred Haponek, of Avon, and Katie Miller, of Elyria.


She was preceded in death by her husband: B. Short in 1936; second husband of 44 years: Stanley J., in 1986; and a brother: John Prosenko.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Woost, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
