Marjorie "Marge" Berens, 76, Enjoyed Las Vegas, cooking, and baking
Marjorie Marge Berens (nee Wayda), age 76, of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in the intensive care unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center- West, following a lengthy illness.Mrs. Berens was born February 26, 1927 in Lorain and was a life-long resident.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School and a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She was employed for more than 36 years as a cashier and customer service representative for Fisher Foods and its successor companies, Rini-Rego and Giant Eagle. She retired in 1994.
Marjorie enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas, playing bingo throughout the area, cooking, baking, and planting flowers. Additional interests included playing cards with a specific focus on the games of spades, pinochle, and golf; she was a member of Jax and Jills Card Club for 51 years.
Marge is survived by her husband of 53 years: Clarence; daughters: Debbie Berens-Poyle, and Michelle Berens, both of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and a brother: Michael Kotradi of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Steve and Mary Wayda; brothers: George DeVinitz, Albert Wayda, and John Kotradi; along with a sister: Marie Heredos.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, in Lorain. Funeral Services will be Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3651 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. David G. Woost, associate pastor of Catholic Church of St. Peter will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
