Isabel H. Connaughton, 92, Enjoyed travel and history
Isabel H. Connaughton (nee Egan), age 92, of the North Ridge Retirement Community, North Ridgeville, formerly of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at her daughters home in Avon Lake, following a 3 month illness.Mrs. Connaughton was born January 5, 1912 in Mechanicville, NY. She had lived in the New York City area from 1938 to 1958 then moved to New Bern, NC where she lived until moving to North Ridgeville in 1992. While in New Bern, Mrs. Connaughton worked as a medical secretary and office manager for an oral surgeon.
Mrs. Connaughton attended Business College and was a member of the Catholic Daughters in New Bern. While in North Ridgeville, she was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church; the Church's Ladies Guild and the Lively Avon Lakers. She enjoyed travel, history, spending time at the ocean and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Connaughton is survived by daughter: Ellen Grady (John) of Avon Lake; sons: George C. Connaughton, Jr. (Kathleen) of North Augusta, SC, James P. Connaughton (Pamela) of Piano, TX and Dennis J. Connaughton (the late Elaine) of Randolph, NJ. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren: George Connaughton, Ken Matthews (Rob), Katherine Connaughton, Patrick Connaughton, Daniel Connaughton, Karen Grady, Patricia Capretto (Jet), John Grady and Kristen Connaughton.
She is preceded in death by her husband: George E. Connaughton (1990); 2 brothers: William Egan and George Egan; a sister: Regina Egan; and her parents: James A. and Isabelle (nee Barry) Egan.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Thursday, February 26, from 6:00-9 p.m. Prayer service at the funeral home Friday, February 27 at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Rd. Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor of the church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, New Bern, North Carolina, on Saturday at 1 p.m.
