Samuel DelBoccio, 58, Vietnam Veteran, history buff, loved animals
Samuel Sonny DelBoccio, 58, of Sheffield Village, died Thursday, February 26, 2004 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a sudden illness.He was born November 6, 1945 in Lorain and had resided in Sheffield Village most of his life.
He was a 1963 graduate of Brookside High School in Sheffield Village. He then served with the U.S. Army in the United States during the Vietnam War.
Mr. DelBoccio worked at Freuhauf Trailer in Avon Lake and then at Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain as a brakeman until a disability forced him to retire.
He was a World War II history buff and extensively studied World War II battles and campaigns. He enjoyed nature and animals and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his son Tony DelBoccio of Rayland,.Ohio; daughters Christine Hughes of Canfield, Ohio and Stacey Cavicchia of Dillonvale, Ohio; father Samuel DelBoccio of Sheffield Village; 3 grandchildren, sisters Adele DelBoccio of Sheffield Village, JoAnn Mantini of Amherst, Anita Revta of Amherst and Mary Beth Hall of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth DelBoccio (nee Moidovan).
Private family services will be held. The Rev. Robert J.Franco, pastor of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Teresa Cemetery where the Disabled American Veterans Post Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
