Cleta H. Wormsley, 92, Homemaker, focused her life on family

Cleta H. Wormsley (nee Cureton), 92 years of age, formerly of Amherst and a resident of Surgoinsville, Tennessee, passed away March 2, 2004 at her grand daughter’s home.

She was born February 27, 1912 in Kensee, Kentucky where she was raised. She had lived in Amherst for more than 30 years and has been living with her granddaughter for the past year.

Cleta was a homemaker and mother, with her entire life focus on her family.

Survivors include her sons, Glenn Wormsley of Surgoinsville, TN, Paul Wormsley of Lorain, Kyle Wormsley of Williamson, GA, and Jimmy Wormsley of Bloomingdale, IL, her daughter, Joann Kravis of Edgewood, KY, 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews; her sister Arlene Knuckles of Pennington Gap, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan H. Wormsley in 1968, and by her parents Sam and Nora Cureton and by 13 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist will officiate. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
