Horace "Pude" Flynn, 77, Enjoyed traveling and building bird houses
Horace Pude Flynn, 77, of Amherst, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a 2 week illness.He was born June 9, 1926 in Kidder, Kentucky where he was raised and lived until moving to Amherst at the age of 15. He has been an Amherst resident ever since.
Horace worked for the Cleveland Quarries in South Amherst for 48 years, retiring in 1991 as a front end loader operator. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers, building bird houses and windmills, caring for pigeons, and traveling.
Survivors include his sons: Allen Henes of Elgin, Tennessee, and Arnold Flynn of Vermilion; daughters: Sandra Frederick of Lorain, and Elizabeth Lawson of Robbins, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brothers: Raymond Flynn of Amherst, Arthur Flynn of Monticello, Kentucky; and his sister: Shirley Smith of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years: Marie Elaine (nee Henes) Flynn in 1995; daughter: Sharon Lawson in 2000; grandsons: Clifton Lawson, Jr. in 1968, and Christopher Henes in 1994; great grandsons: Rodney Wayne Lawson in 1990, and Shawn Frederick in 1988; brothers: Norman and Quince Flynn; sisters: Stella Flynn and Nella Casada; and parents: Ira and Laura (nee Owens) Flynn.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
