Walter P. Huhn, 78, U.S. Navy Veteran

Walter P. Huhn, age 78, of Bay Village passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness.

Mr. Huhn was born November 19, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA and was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and Carnegie Tech, in Pittsburgh, PA.

During WWII Walter served as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was employed as a metallurgist and retired from Polymet Alloy, Alabama as an alloy broker. Mr. Huhn was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Avon Lake and the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Ragan Council 3269, Avon. He was also a member of the American Society of Metals and the American Legion. He enjoyed model trains.

Mr. Huhn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. (nee Quinn); two daughters: Debra Blythe (David) of Sheffield Lake, and Patricia Huhn of Westlake; a son: Kerry Huhn (Mary Beth) of Sheffield Lake; 5 grandchildren; brother: Richard Huhn of Aiken, South Carolina, and a sister: Nancy Altman of Pittsburgh, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter P. Huhn, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (nee Lynch) Huhn.

Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Rd., in Avon Lake on Saturday March 13 at 10 a.m. Rev. James H. Beatty, pastor of Holy Spirit Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where V.F.W. Post 9871 of North Ridgeville will conduct military honors. Memorials may be forwarded to the Alzheimers Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland, OH 44120.
