James R. Whitmore, 80, WWII Veteran, worked for Sherwin Williams
James Richard Whitmore, 80, of Zephryhills, Florida and formerly of Avon passed away Wednesday April 7, 2004 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Florida.He was born April 24, 1923 in Cleveland and lived in Avon for 52 years before moving to Florida 18 years ago. During World War II he served in the Army in Italy and France. He was employed as a graphic artist and production manager for Sherwin Williams, Cleveland before retiring. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Florida and Faith Lutheran Church in Avon.
Mr. Whitmore is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann (nee Brandt); two daughters, Betty Pszenitzki of Big Prairie, Ohio and Ann Ramsier of Avon Lake, Ohio; a son, Kenneth Whitmore of Avon and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Whitmore, parents William S. and Annie E. Whitmore (nee Slater) and a sister.
Graveside services will be held Monday April 19, 2004 at Lakewood Park Cemetery, 22025 Detroit Rd. Rocky River at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Roger Daene of Faith Lutheran Church will officiate.
