Agnes A. Paskvan, 81, Secretary for Sheffield Schools
Agnes A. Paskvan, age 81, of Milford, Michigan, and formerly of Lorain County, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Saint Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.
Mrs. Paskvan was born February 22, 1923 in Lorain and had been a resident of Milford since 1994 moving from Sheffield Village.
She was employed for more than twenty years as a secretary for the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake School District serving mainly at Barr Elementary School, and later as a substitute secretary throughout the district. She also served for a number of years as the union representative for the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, which represented the non-teaching positions within the school system.
She was an extremely active parishioner of Saint Vitus Croatian Catholic Church while living in Ohio and formerly served as its parish secretary. She also served as President of the Church Guild, and was a member of the Saint Vitus choir as well as its Altar and Rosary Society. At the time of her death she attended Saint Mary Catholic Church in Milford.
Agnes is survived by her daughter Monica Beane of Milford Michigan, sons Joseph Paskvan of Medina, Mark M. Paskvan of Russia Township and Jeff Paskvan of Sheffield Village, six grandchildren, sisters Evelyn Baldauf of Avon and June Schobel of Tucson, Arizona, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen R. Paskvan and by her parents Peter and Anna (nee Ivancic) Romick, by brothers John and Sam Romick and by sisters Ann Parks, Gladys Hudak, Mary Prodonovich, and Angeline Ivansic.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a parish rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Vitus Croatian Catholic Church, 1785 East 32nd Street at Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Simon Nekic, pastor of Saint Vitus Church will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
