Stanley A. Williams, 86, WWII Veteran, loved Cleveland Sports
Stanley A. Williams, 86, of Lorain died on Tuesday afternoon, May 4, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain, OH following a brief illness.Mr. Williams was born on October 6, 1917 in Lorain, OH and was a lifetime resident. He was a 1935 graduate of Lorain High School. He was a US Army veteran. He served with the 27th Infantry as a captain during World War II.
He had been employed at Lorain Aluminum and the Vermilion Country Club. Mr. Williams was a member of the American Legion Post # 30, Elks Lodge #1301, P.L.A.V. Charleston Masonic Lodge 702, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, VFW.
He was an avid golfer and enthusiastic supporter of both the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Jean K. (nee Persello) Williams, his two daughters, Susan Irwin of Hicksville, OH, Crystal Williams of Elyria, sons, Ted Williams of Lorain, Tom Williams of South Amherst, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his sister Betty Poole Davie, FL. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Margaret (nee Couch) Williams, and sisters Jane and Francis.
