Ellen Forsberg Howley, Instrumental in the formation of the Spring Valley Country Club

Ellen Forsberg Howley of Lorain died on Friday, May 7, 2004, at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain, OH.

Mrs. Howley was born in Lorain and was a lifetime resident of the area.

Ellen was a 1936 graduate of Lorain High School and a member of the Elyria Country Club, and the Greater Cleveland Golf Association. She and her late husband, Christopher J. Howley Jr., were instrumental in the formation of the Spring Valley Country Club. They served as president and trustee. Mrs. Howley won two club championships and was the winner of the 1958 Plain Dealer Championship. She also had two lifetime hole in ones.

She is survived by her daughter: Christine Miles of Bloomfield Hills, MI and two granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Christopher J. Howley Jr., Nov. 3, 1977; a daughter: Ann E. Howley on Oct 8, 1996; and her parents Henning and Clara (nee Lindsay) Forsberg.

A Celebration of her life will be held on May 12, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, OH with Co-Pastor Jimmy Madsen officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Lorain Salvation Army, 2506 Broadway Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052 or the charity of the donor's choice.
